18 Jun British Woman on Top
Last week Rachel Joyce dominated the yellow brick road (like prior 2x Kansas winner Chrissie Wellington) with a 22:40 margin over runner-up Amanda Stevens in her first 70.3 win in Kansas.
At the UK 70.3 this past weekend, Irishwoman Eimear Mullan swiped the title from last years winner Brit Emma-Kate Lidbury for her 1st 70.3 win in convincing fashion and less than 3 minutes to spare. Swiss athlete and pre-race favorite Simone Braendli took third.
Even without Chrissie Wellington in play, the British woman are in play for titles at all levels this year. Helen Jenkins (GBR) is even poised to win gold at the Olympics. We can expect a fight for podium spots at Kona with many strong contenders. What is it about these strong and smart British woman that makes them so good and tough to beat? Who are you rooting for this year in Kona?
