17 Jul Lost and Found in Racine
Comeback kid Dede Griesbauer led Racine 70.3 until the first lap of the run when hometown favorite Jessica Jacobs used her race best run to win. Griesbauer gamely hung on to second, holding off a hard charging Christie Sym.
On his twitter feed, race favorite Craig Alexander congratulated "the Estonian Express" Marko Albert for a well fought win in 3:59:23. Paul Ambrose followed in 2nd with Tim Reed in third. Crowie put up his worst placing in years with a 9th place finish. He said, "Terrible race for me in Racine today. Legs very flat. I swear I was passed by a traffic cone." Could it be that he was watching too much of the Tour or the stress of the Colorado wildfires? Or could it be something more serious, like a few years ago when he was challenged with an illness? Or perhaps, it only shows that Crowie is human too and just had a bad day at the office.
We've all had our share of bad races, but usually they are an opportunity to learn. What have you learned from a race that didn't necessary meet your expectations?
