17 Jun Record Broken in Regensburg

Even racing for charity in his first Ironman, the younger Raelert did give Dirk Bockel (4th at Kona in 2011) a chase in a race that was only between the two of them. In the end, Bockel had a nice cushion to the finish with a record-breaking time of 8:11:59. Raelert finished a respectable 8:18:53 and garnered valuable KPR points toward Kona, saying, the race was the “härtesten Erfahrung meines Lebens.” (toughest experience of my life). It will be interesting to see what he can do when he feels like he’s “racing” and not just finishing. Mike Schifferle from Switzerland took third.
